Galaxy face Beckham injury blow

David Beckham may miss Los Angeles Galaxy's match against New England Revolution on Sunday.

The England midfielder made his Major League Soccer debut on Thursday when he came on for the final 18 minutes of his side's 1-0 defeat by DC United.

But he aggravated the ankle injury that has been plaguing him recently and is not confident about his fitness.

"I'm not sure about my ankle. It flared up again after the DC United game," said the 32-year-old.

Beckham had originally said that he hoped to play a half in the game and a full match against New York Red Bulls on 18 August but now looks likely to revert to a place on the bench against the Revolution, who have sold all 32,000 tickets for the match.

Meanwhile, Galaxy captain Landon Donovan is relishing the time when the former England skipper is fit to take a regular place in the side.

"I want him on the field all the time because he makes us better," stated Donovan.

Easy now big boy, you probably don't play soccer. But I bet he doesn't play because New England's field is field turf which blows.

End his career! Are you serious? If Beckham is injured then he's injured! He shouldn't play just because he is expected to or because a stadium has sold out. He should play when he is fit and ready and shouldn't be rushed into it.

If he plays and is not ready then it is likely that he will do himself more harm than good. This is what's happened in the DC game. LA Galaxy seem in too much of a rush to cash in on the publicity at his expense - some people should learn about "patience"!!

end his career? wow before he got hurt he was playing better then he's played in a long time. Rushing him back to early could end his career so why not let him get fit 100%. Yeah they pumped him up but I would have too if I paid that much for somebody. The fans just have to learn these things happen. And Becks is right that turf does suck.

First!! I am NOT a Man Utd fan! I am a Tottenham Fan... a Becks Fan! & so now also a Galaxy fan.... but after Sunday's Revolution Game... i wish Yallop would make the Galaxy watch a Video of the Man U. Vs Reading Game, (regardless of the outcome)!..OVER and OVER and OVER... Man U's Passing was a Dream! Galaxy looked like they were passing just to get rid of the ball. There Was ONE good play late in the game... would have been great if they'd scored. I realize the Man U Players have played together longer but then the LAG will just have to Practice more. We sure missed Xavier.
Also i'm with you ... Beck's should NOT play till he's Fit & Ready. This unfortunate stuff happens.. notice it's happened again to Rooney and like Beck's he sure ain't 'happy about it'!!!!
