Beckham may train in Italy

AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said David Beckham would be welcome after media reported that the Los Angeles Galaxy player might train with the Serie A club when the long MLS close season starts next month.

'If Beckham wanted to train with us, it wouldn't be a problem for me,' Ancelotti told a news conference, adding that Milan had tried to sign the England midfielder in the past.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player fears for his national team place and he requires just two more caps would take him past Bobby Moore as England's most capped outfield player.

Beckham has 107 caps but manager Fabio Capello is likely to take a dim view of the 33-year-old's lack of football if he doesn't move to Europe.

Ancelotti was echoing AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani who said last week he would be happy for Beckham if he wanted to train with the Italian club this winter.

Galliani said: 'If Beckham wants to come here and train with us I am certain there won't be any problems. I don't know what his intentions are but he's welcome here.'

Last year Beckham trained with Arsenal during the Major League Soccer close season.
