Sir Alex insists Beckham making good move

Sir Alex Ferguson believes David Beckham will be making a good move if he joins AC Milan on loan.

Beckham is expected to join the Italian giants on loan in an attempt to prolong his England career, and Ferguson thinks a Milan move will be beneficial.

"It is hardly a surprise," said the Manchester United manager, who sold Beckham to Real Madrid in 2003.

"Going to the United States does not get you the kind of football he is used to. It is not the right level of football, therefore coming back into the mainstream of the game is not a surprise."

Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko meanwhile welcomed the news that Beckham could join the club.

He said: "He is a great professional and he would come to play at a high level, which is clearly a sign that he wants to be considered for the national team."
